Meet the Team

Abbey Payne - Studio Owner
The goal for my class is for my students to feel better when they leave rather than when they first enter the room. I will always offer many chances to flow, but encourage students to listen to their bodies and rest when they need (even if that means the whole class in corpose pose!) I love the moving mediation that happens when we link our breath to movement and that is a big part of my class. I believe yoga is not just a physical practice, but a mind, body, emotional, and spiritual experience in one. I strive to incorporate breath work, gratitude, and a dynamic asana practice to help students feel all the benefits of yoga.

My classes allow for the whole mind body experience as we combine breath work with short mediations either in the beginning or end. We also pair the breath with the movement and focus on proper alignment and positioning. The class involves a little yin, with mobility work and a strength and endurance component.

Warm up with slower flow to prep muscles/joints for the upcoming flow sequences often focuses on a theme (detox twists, hips, heart openers) Sun salutations to assist in breath to movement connection. 2-3 flows with theme. Cool down/slower flow with deeper hold. Options for closing poses. Savasana.

I like to start with breath work and set an intention for your practice. We begin to warm up with light stretching and an AB series. After a few sun a’s and we are warm, we move into our main flow that will take you around your mat a few times and then will finish with a cool down. We typically take the flow slow the first time and then pick up the pace for the next two rounds. I also like to incorporate stengthening exercises in my flow!

Natalie Austin - Yoga Instructor
I have been teacahing yoga on off and off since BMY opened. You can expect some good flowing in my classes! I like to start out slowing down the breath, then go into a functional warm up to heat your body from the inside out. Then we get into some good flows. Might throw in a free flow here and there so you can really tune into your body and do what feels good!

Sidney Davis - Yoga Instructor + Sculpt
The way I design my sculpt class is with a 10 minute warm up with just body weight strenghtening and stretching. 30 minutes of 3 different full body workout circuits that we go through twice each and then a 10 minute restorative cool down ending with savasana and short breath work!
For my flows I typically start with breath work, leading into a slow pace 10 minute warm up then pick up the pace with sun saluations adding in different postures and movements into them. I usually have two different flows that I will teach throughout the rest of class going through each flow 3 times breath to movement. The first found each flow, I give more time to dive deeper into postures and make adjustments. I also add in core work in all my flows as well as some type of leg work, typically squats. I always encourage my students to leave behind anything that is not serving them and to take what they want. I give at least 10 minutes for a restorative cool down ending with savasana and breath work!
